Growing A Living Landscape

Nurturing Derbyshire’s land with care

growing fruit, flowers and hope sustainably

Welcome to High Peak Harvest

Our vision is for a thriving, connected landscape where nature flourishes, biodiversity is restored, and communities have equitable access to high-quality green spaces. Through locally grown food and community-owned renewable energy, we aim to support a resilient, low-carbon future that strengthens environmental health, local livelihoods, and long-term wellbeing.

Randall Carr Brook Farm is nestled on 10 acres in Derbyshire, we steward the land to restore nature, strengthen biodiversity, and actively mitigate climate change. Through sustainable growing of fruit trees, flowers, and crops, we are working to enhance local landscapes, improve access to green spaces, and produce food in ways that support healthier ecosystems and a more resilient future.

Our education programme connects sustainable agriculture with renewable energy through practical, hands-on learning. Working with our community, we demonstrate how responsible land stewardship, biodiversity enhancement, and low-impact food production can also contribute to climate change mitigation and long-term environmental resilience.

We integrate small-scale renewable energy into our farming activities and reinvest any surplus into local renewable energy projects. This circular approach keeps value within the community, supports local energy independence, and shows how land, food, and clean energy can work together to create a greener, more resilient future.

Biodiversity Boost

Our Biodiversity Boost project is about restoring natural systems and helping wildlife thrive. By re-establishing historic land drains and creating new wetland areas, we are improving water management, reducing flood risk, and providing valuable habitats for birds, amphibians, and insects.

We are also tackling invasive species such as Himalayan balsam and replacing them with native, pollinator-friendly plants, hedgerows, and trees. Alongside this, we are developing a long-term woodland management strategy to improve woodland health, encourage natural regeneration, and increase habitat diversity. Together, these actions are building a richer, more resilient landscape that benefits nature, climate, and the local community.

Our Sustainable Agriculture project focuses on nurturing healthy soils and productive ecosystems to grow food in harmony with nature. By planting cover crops, we improve soil structure, enhance fertility, and reduce erosion, creating a living foundation for long-term productivity.

Alongside this, we are establishing fruit and nut trees and flowering plants to support pollinators, attract beneficial insects, and increase biodiversity across the farm. These plantings not only provide nutritious, locally grown produce but also create vibrant habitats, enhance soil health, and contribute to a resilient, regenerative landscape for our community and the environment.

Our Agri-renewables project will demonstrate how small-scale clean energy can support sustainable, low-carbon farming. By using solar panels, micro wind systems, and other technologies, we will generate power for irrigation, processing, and educational facilities, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The project will also serve as a practical example of decarbonised agriculture. Through hands-on learning, we will show farmers and the community how renewable energy can work alongside regenerative farming, while surplus energy and income will be reinvested into local renewable initiatives to strengthen environmental and social resilience.
